Former MLA Arun Jagtap passes away! Sharad Pawar emotional

Ahilyanagar: Senior NCP leader and former Legislative Council MLA Arun Balbhim Jagtap (aged 67), who made his mark in the political and social arena of Ahilyanagar, passed away in the early hours of today, May 2, 2025, at a private hospital in Pune. He had been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit for the past few days due to a brain hemorrhage. He breathed his last after battling death for almost a month.
Arun Jagtap, who was called 'Kaka' everywhere, was a popular name in Ahilyanagar politics. He started his political career as the president of the Youth Congress. He successfully handled many important responsibilities such as the mayor of Ahmednagar Municipality, president of the District Cricket Association, and president of the Gunay Ayurveda Educational Institute. He also performed remarkably as an MLA by being elected to the Legislative Council twice in a row.
He was a very trusted colleague of NCP founder Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar paid his deepest tributes on his death. Pawar said, “I am personally shocked by the death of Arun Jagtap. He fulfilled every responsibility from local bodies to the Legislative Council with dedication. His flame of social work and public service will always inspire.”
Arun Kaka’s death has spread across Maharashtra, including Ahilyanagar. His body will be kept for the last darshan at his residence in Bhawani Nagar at 2 pm today, and the last rites will be performed at the crematorium in Ahilyanagar in the evening.
He is survived by his wife Parvati, sons MLA Sangram Jagtap and former Zilla Parishad member Sachin Jagtap, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and a large family. Many leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Guardian Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil have expressed their condolences on his death.
With the death of Arun Kaka Jagtap, Ahilyanagar has lost an accomplished and public servant leader. May their souls rest in peace, this is our prayer.
