Jalna Grant Scam: 3 Talathis and 2 Others Arrested in Rs 25 Crore Fraud

Jalna, January 20, 2026: A major scam has been uncovered in the distribution of grants to farmers affected by natural calamities in Ambad and Ghansawangi talukas of Jalna district. A fraud of Rs 24.90 crore has come to light, and the Economic Offences Wing arrested five people, including three Talathis (village revenue officers), on Sunday. The court has remanded the accused to five days of police custody.

So far, 20 accused have been arrested in this scam. It has been revealed that the accused misappropriated the grant money by uploading bogus names in the lists. The scam came to light during an inquiry conducted on the instructions of the District Collector.
The arrested accused include Mandal Officer Sunil Ramkrishna Sormare (37), Talathi Bappasaheb Rakhmaji Bhusare (53), Talathi Rameshwar Nana Jadhav (48), Network Engineer Vaibhav Vishwambhar Adgaonkar (36), and Operator Vijay Nivrutti Bhandwale (34).
In this case, the accused had applied for anticipatory bail in the District Court and the High Court, but their applications were rejected. The action was taken by a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Siddharth Mane.
