Nagpur, dt. 30: Through the Maha Awas Yojana, the Central and State Governments carried out an ambitious housing campaign for homeless families in rural areas. In this campaign, the best work was done in Gondia and Wardha districts. The participation of women's financial institutions for housing is commendable. Divisional Commissioner Smt. Prajakta Lavangare-Verma appealed to increase public participation to provide the right shelter to every needy person in rural areas.
Mrs. Lavangare-Verma expressed confidence that Nagpur would get a reputation as the best department in the state along with solving the problems encountered in the implementation of Mahawas Abhiyan.
Wardha Zilla Parishad President Smt. Sarita Gakhare, Gondia Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Pradip Dange and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
Maharashtra gave the country the Sant Gadge Baba Gram Swachhta Abhiyan scheme. The success of this scheme proved that the problems in the village can be solved in the village itself. Public participation is important in this and this success has been achieved due to the active participation of the citizens of the division even against the backdrop of Kovid infection, said Mrs. Lavangare-Verma.
During the period from November 2020 to June 2021, the Centrally Sponsored Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and various other state sponsored Awas Yojanas were implemented in the state to accelerate and increase the quality of Mahawas Abhiyan Grameen.
Construction of 1 lakh 62 thousand 383 houses has been completed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and construction of 48 thousand 898 houses has been completed under state sponsored housing scheme.
Gondia district has bagged the first prize of the best district in the centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at the divisional level under Maha Awas Abhiyan Grameen. The second prize went to Bhandara district and the third prize went to Wardha district. Prizes were distributed to Goregaon, Gondia and Tiroda Panchayat Samiti in Gondia district as the first, second and third talukas in the best taluka respectively. Apart from this, Talegaon, Gondia II Korambi and Kesori villages of Arjuni Morgaon taluka of Gondia district received awards for the best Gram Panchayat. The third prize went to Inzala Gram Panchayat in Wardha district.
Nari Shakti Prabhat Sangh of Wardha district Sindhivihiri (Karanja), Bank of India, Andhalgaon in Bhandara district, Hirkani Prabhag Sangh, Andori (Deoli) in Wardha district as well as the first Warora to provide land and sand. Taluka, second Kamathi taluka and third Bhadravati taluka are among the award winning talukas.
