Mumbai, January 22, 2026: After the results of the elections for 29 municipal corporations in the state were declared, the much-awaited draw for the reservation of the Mayor's post was held today at the Ministry. In this draw, conducted in the presence of Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, 3 seats have been reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), 1 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 8 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), and the remaining 17 seats for the open category. The Mayor's post has been reserved for women in a total of 15 municipal corporations, which is expected to accelerate the political activities of various parties.
