Maharashtra signs MoUs worth ?30 lakh crore at Davos: Devendra Fadnavis - Investment in Maharashtra from 18 countries

Davos, January 22 - Maharashtra has signed investment agreements worth ?30 lakh crore at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and preliminary discussions for another ?10 lakh crore worth of investment agreements have been completed, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed reporters today. This will achieve the target of creating 40 lakh jobs.
He was speaking to journalists from Maharashtra via video conference today. ??83 percent of these agreements involve direct foreign investment, with the investment coming from a total of 18 countries. 16 percent of the investment is in foreign technology partnerships. These 18 countries include the USA, England, Singapore, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Germany, France, Austria, UAE, Spain, Canada, Belgium, etc. This investment is coming into all sectors, including industrial, services, agriculture, and technology. The conversion rate of these Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) into actual projects is 75 percent. Last year's agreements have also materialized at a rate of 75 percent, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis further informed today.
Stating that this investment will materialize over 3 to 7 years, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that these agreements have been made with many companies such as SBG, Brookfield, ArcelorMittal, Finman Global, Essar, Skoda Auto, Volkswagen, STT Telemedia, Tata, Adani, Reliance, JBL, Coca-Cola, Bosch, Capitaland, and Iron Mountain. Although some of these groups are Indian, they have investments in approximately 165 countries. This investment has come in all sectors, including quantum computing, AI, GCC, data centers, healthcare, food processing, green steel, urban development, shipbuilding, fintech, logistics, and digital infrastructure.
Widespread Investment
22 percent of the investment is in Konkan and MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region), 13 percent in Vidarbha, and 50 percent in other parts of the state. The major figures include ?50,000 crore in North Maharashtra across Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Ahilyanagar; ?55,000 crore in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Marathwada; ?3,50,000 crore in the Konkan region; and ?2,70,000 crore in Nagpur and Vidarbha. He also informed that several institutional agreements have been made with organizations such as JICA, JBIC, University of Berkeley, University of California, and Stanford Biodesign at Stanford University.
India's First Innovation City
We are going to create India's first Innovation City near Mumbai with Tata. Detailed planning for this will be done in the next 6 to 8 months. This concept originated in Davos last year. Discussions were held with N. Chandrasekaran of Tata Sons regarding this. Tata will invest more than ?1 lakh crore for this. Many other international investors will also invest in this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said.
Development of Circular Economy in Mumbai!
A circular economy will be created in Mumbai, which will address the city's water and air pollution problems. The aim is to ensure that all types of waste are processed. This concept will later be extended to all major cities. We will be able to demonstrate the results of this in Mumbai in the next 2 to 3 years. The Raigad-Pen Growth Center was also announced at this Davos meeting. This growth center will create a business district. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also stated that an investment of ?1 lakh crore was received just yesterday.

Zimbabwe's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Prof. Amon Murwira, openly praised Maharashtra's progress in the solar energy sector at a conference. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi were present at this conference.
Devendra Fadnavis met with Adam Sobey, Mission Director of the Alan Turing Institute, and discussed the transportation sector with him. The discussion focused on measures to reduce carbon emissions and meet future needs in a sustainable manner.
Discussions were also held with Hilde Tonne, Chairperson of the Arup Group, on various aspects of urban development, and with Alessandro Giulani of the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on increasing mutual cooperation.
