
Major decision regarding MMRDA's PAP buildings in Chandivali, instructions from Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Mumbai: Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed that the buildings erected near the Mithi River, which were rehabilitated by citizens on the premises of Premier Company in Kurla, should be repaired immediately. Also, instructions were given in the meeting to provide basic facilities like water sanitation and garbage collection to the citizens living in these buildings.
The affected slum dwellers of Kranti Nagar, Sandesh Nagar, Jarimari, located near the Mithi River and on the premises of the Airport Authority, were rehabilitated in four buildings at HDIL Complex, Premier Vasahat in Kurla. Currently, sixteen hundred citizens of Mahul have been rehabilitated in the same building along with them. However, currently, many complaints are being received regarding roof leaks, elevators and wiring in this building. Local residents also said that there are serious issues of water supply, sanitation and sewage drainage in this building.
Accordingly, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde directed the MMRDA officials to resolve all these issues immediately and to provide relief to these residents by making any other corrections if any. Shinde also said that the missing link work that had to be done to smoothen water supply should be completed as soon as possible and that cleanliness and garbage collection facilities should be provided in this colony. Accordingly, a contractor will be appointed immediately for the repair work and the leakage and repair work will be completed and the missing link work to smoothen water supply should be completed within the next 10 days.
He also said that the 650-bed hospital in this PAP colony, which has been completed but is not in use, should be transferred to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and started. He also directed the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner to change the town planner and contractor who are delaying this work and to immediately complete the work of this hospital by issuing a new tender.
