Nagpur, Date 06: With the infrastructure of the growing Nagpur metropolis, it is in order to change the plan wherever necessary, considering the future regarding water supply, sewage and waste management etc. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister and Nagpur District Guardian Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed to speed up the work by making necessary changes in the master plan which has been prepared considering the difficulties faced by citizens in various areas.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presided over a meeting in Nagpur city regarding sewage, sanitation, new roads, water supply to new settlements in the municipal hall today. In this meeting, Legislative Council Member Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLA Dr. Nitin Raut, Legislative Council Member Praveen Datke, MLA Krishna Khopde, MLA Mohan Mate, MLA Vikas Kumbhare, MLA Vikas Thackeray, Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, Managing Director of Mahametro Shravan Hardikar, Chairman of Nagpur Reform Trust Sanjay Meena, Additional Commissioner Anchal Goyal, Smart City CEO Soumya Sharma, Additional Commissioner Ajay Charthankar etc were present.
Many new areas have been included in Nagpur Municipal Corporation limits. New apartments have been added. Accordingly, the indirect stress of available water supply, sewerage pipelines, growing markets naturally falls on the existing facilities. However, considering all future needs, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave clear instructions to the senior officials in the meeting to make the necessary changes in the plan that has been prepared earlier, that there will be no hindrance to the new development works.
2 thousand 400 crores of funds have been made available by JICA for the development of Naga river along with the development works in the metropolis. He expressed confidence that the sewerage pipeline network can be strengthened and perfected through this fund. In this regard, it is equally important to plan it in coordination with the relevant departments of all departments.
In the recent past, the citizens had to suffer in some areas due to waterlogging due to large-scale blockage of sewerage girders during the monsoon season. Keeping this in mind, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis said to increase these vehicles by adding more vehicles for proper maintenance of pipelines and girders.
Epidemic diseases that follow monsoons are caused by unsanitary conditions. For this, it is necessary for the Municipal Corporation's sanitation department to work with utmost responsibility keeping in mind the public health. Malpractice in cleaning work will not be tolerated. Along with this, there are many complaints that they have not been able to properly carry out the responsibility that was previously assigned to the Public Health Engineering Department. Keeping this in mind, instructions were given in this meeting to give this work again to the Health Department.
