One State One Rural Bank: Another major change is taking place in the banking sector of the country. The central government is preparing to take a big decision about the country's rural banks. This may lead to crisis for the existing regional banks. The number of regional rural banks may decrease.
Another big change is coming in the banking sector of the country. Major decisions were taken in the last ten years regarding government banks. State banks merged to form one big bank. After that, efforts are underway to sell the government's stake in some government banks. Now the Union Finance Ministry has given the slogan of 'One State One Rural Bank' in the country. The slogan of integration of Regional Rural Banks in the country has been given. This step is being taken to usher in reforms in rural banks. So these banks like public banks will survive in the competition.
30 regional banks will remain in the country
A senior official told Business Standard about this. Accordingly, along with reducing the number of regional banks in the country, efforts will be made to modernize them. There will be drastic changes in their operations. At present there are total 43 regional (regional) banks in the country. Banks in some states have also been affiliated to it. Through that, an attempt was made to smoothen the functioning of the banks. Now there is a plan to bring the number of regional banks in the country to 30.
