Kazan: A closed plenary meeting of the 16th BRICS Summit was held in the Russian city of Kazan on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi put forth his views in this. PM Modi once again described terrorism as the biggest threat to the world. He said that there is no place for double standards on terrorism. PM Modi said that the BRICS countries will have to come together and fight it. He also reiterated the need for reform in the UNSC.

Modi said, "Our meeting is taking place at a time when the world is surrounded by many challenges like wars, conflicts, economic uncertainty, climate change, terrorism. There is talk of North-South and East-West division in the world." He said that inflation control, food security, energy security, health security, water security are priority issues for all countries. Also, in the age of technology, new challenges like cyber security, deep fake, disinformation have emerged. In such a situation, there are a lot of expectations from BRICS."
BRICS is not a divisive group, but a public interest group
The Prime Minister said, "I believe that as a diverse and inclusive platform, BRICS can play a positive role on all subjects. In this context, our approach should remain people-centric. We should send a message to the world that BRICS is not a divisive group, but a public interest group."

We have to work together on the pending issue of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism in the United Nations." India welcomes new members of BRICS
Prime Minister Modi mentioned the new members of BRICS during this time. He said, "India welcomes new countries as BRICS partner countries. All decisions in this regard should be taken unanimously. The views of the founding countries of BRICS should be respected. The guidelines, rules and procedures that we had adopted in the Johannesburg Summit should be followed by all member and partner countries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "BRICS is such an organization that has the will to change itself according to time. We should set our example before the whole world and raise our voice unanimously for reform in the global institution."
Need for reform in UNSC
Modi stressed the need for reform in the United Nations Security Council. He said, "We should move forward in a timely manner to reform global institutions like UN Security Council, Multilateral Development Banks, WTO. While taking forward the efforts of BRICS, we should keep in mind that the image of this organization should not be such that we do not want to reform global institutions, but to replace them."
