Rahul Gandhi and Congress request PM Modi to call special session of Parliament over Pahalgam attack -

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the government to call a special session of both the Houses of Parliament in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
In his letter, Rahul Gandhi said that every Indian is outraged by this attack. He stressed the need for a united response. The letter wrote. 'At this critical time, India must show that we will always be united against terrorism.' He further said that the opposition believes that a special session should be held to give the representatives of the people an opportunity to express their unity and resolve.
The letter said, 'The opposition believes that a special session of both the Houses of Parliament should be called, where the representatives of the people can show their unity and determination. We request that such a special session be called as soon as possible.'
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling on behalf of the party to call a special session of both the houses of Parliament in response to the attack. In his letter, Kharge said that the proposed session would be a platform to express a joint stand on the attack and demonstrate collective resolve to deal with the situation.
The Congress President also said that the opposition's faith in unity and solidarity is the need of the hour. Earlier on Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly held a special session condemning the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. During the session, a resolution was passed to strongly condemn the attack and express solidarity with the victims and their families.
Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary introduced a resolution condemning the Pahalgam terror attack at the beginning of the session after Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather's speech. The resolution supported the diplomatic measures announced by the Central Government after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs. The resolution was passed without any division of votes, following which the assembly session was adjourned indefinitely.
