ED action and hearing in court
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against Robert Vadra in the money laundering case. Congress has previously said that it is motivated by politics.
Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court took cognizance of this charge sheet on Friday. Now this case has been listed for verification of documents on July 24. Special Judge Sushant Changotra has directed the record keeper of the court to examine the documents and submit a report. Special public prosecutor NK Matta on behalf of ED sought an early hearing date from the court.
What is the matter?
The ED had on July 17 filed a chargesheet under the Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Robert Vadra and 10 other individuals and companies. People and companies named in it include Robert Vadra, Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., Kareshwar Properties Pvt. Ltd., Satyanand Yaji, Keval Singh Virk and others.
The ED's complaint is based on an FIR filed by the Gurugram Police. It is alleged that in the year 2008, Robert Vadra had purchased 3.53 acres of land in Shikohpur village (Sector 83) of Gurugram through his company Sky Light Hospitality using false declaration and influence.
In the investigation, the ED seized 43 immovable properties worth around 37.64 crores on 16 July 2025. Many of these properties are associated with Sky Light Hospitality and other companies. The ED alleges that Vadra misused his personal influence to obtain the commercial license for the land, and that the entire deal was based on fraud.
