Report on reservation in education-jobs to transgenders in 3 months

Mumbai The Bombay High Court has questioned the Maharashtra government regarding the possibilities of giving reservation to transgenders in government jobs and education. Three months time has been given to present the report on what is the plan and idea of the government in this matter. The Bombay High Court on Monday gave this order to the 15-member committee considering this. The court was informed by Advocate General Birender Saraf that the State Social Justice Department has set up a committee in this matter.
On this, a division bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Gangapurwala and Justice Sandeep Marne gave this instruction to the committee. In fact, in the month of May last year, an advertisement was issued for recruitment in the jobs of Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Limited (Mahatransco). Demanding that transgenders should be given the benefit of reservation in these jobs, therefore changes should be made in the advertisement related to it, advocate Kranti L.C. Why not Maharashtra has the same provision as in Karnataka?
The petitioner said that the way Karnataka has a provision of giving 1 percent reservation for all castes and classes, why the same cannot be done in Maharashtra. On March 3, 2023, a proposal (Government Resolution) was approved by the state government for the recruitment of transgenders in employment and education, under which the committee was constituted. The first meeting of the committee is going to be held on 28 March 2023. In this meeting, the way forward for giving reservation to transgenders is to be decided. It has to be seen what report this committee brings in the next three months in the matter related to giving reservation to transgenders.
