Russia and America sat together in Saudi Arabia, discussed important issues including Ukraine war

Riyadh: Top officials of Russia and America met in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and began talks to end the war in Ukraine and improve relations. The meeting held at Diriyah Palace in Riyadh is another important step towards changing the US policy of isolating Russia by the Trump administration. Its aim is to pave the way for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ukraine has made its stand clear
Earlier this month, Trump changed the US policy towards Ukraine and Russia by saying that he and Putin had agreed to start talks to end the war. Ukrainian officials did not attend the meeting and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that his country would not accept the result if Kiev did not participate.
US-Russia relations are in a bad phase
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Putin's foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov arrived in the Saudi capital on Monday night. Ushakov said the talks would be "purely bilateral" and would not involve Ukrainian officials. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and special envoy Steve Witkoff would meet the Russian delegation. The talks mark a significant expansion in US-Russia relations after nearly three years of war that has dragged US-Russia relations to their worst level in decades.
