A shocking incident has taken place in Sangli where a seven-month pregnant married woman has committed suicide. It has been alleged that she committed suicide due to being tortured by her in-laws for conversion. In this case, the Kupwad MIDC police have also arrested her husband, mother-in-law and in-laws.
What is the case?
The name of the married girl is Rituja Sukumar Rajge, aged 27. On June 6, Rituja committed suicide by hanging herself at her in-laws' house. Meanwhile, Rituja's father has alleged that she committed suicide due to being tortured by her in-laws to convert to Christianity.
In this case, a case has been registered against Rituja's husband Sukumar Rajge, Suresh Rajge and Alka Rajge at the Kupwad MIDC police station and all three have also been arrested by the Kupwad MIDC police. The Sukumar Rajge family was repeatedly forcing their daughter to convert to Islam, and tired of this harassment, the deceased Rituja's father Chandrakant Patil has alleged that she committed suicide.
There was no idea before the wedding....
According to the news published in the media, Rituja and Sukumar got married in 2021. Rituja's family had no idea that the girl's in-laws were Christians. We came to know about this after the wedding, informed Rituja's father Chandrakant Patil.
The Sukumar Rajge family had started harassing the girl by telling her to convert to Islam and become a Christian as per the father's instructions. They repeatedly pressured Rituja and harassed her. When she was pregnant, they pressured her to perform the Christian rituals on the child. Rituja took this extreme step only after all this torture became unbearable, her father Chandrakant Patil has informed the media.
