Use artificial intelligence, avoid accidents- Nitin Gadkari Launch of pilot project 'I-Roads'


Nagpur, Dec 11: Over fifteen hundred accidents take place in Nagpur every year, resulting in 250 deaths. It is wrong to hold the driver responsible for each of these accidents, the road engineering, road quality, the relevant systems are equally responsible for this accident. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that if they maintain coordination, accidents can be avoided.
He was speaking at the launch of 'I-Roads', a pilot project based on artificial intelligence, in collaboration with Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Central Road Research Institute, IIT Hyderabad, Intel and Mahindra and Mahindra. . On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Vikas Mahatme, Satish Chandra, Director, Central Road Research Institute, Retired Rai Mahindra & Mahindra's Shrikant Dubey, Head of Intel were present.
Gadkari said that the use of artificial intelligence to prevent accidents would help in the development of intelligence traffic, technology driver Warner system as well as other technical things and help in reducing accidents and improving road safety. The city of Nagpur has seen an increase in the crash severity ratio, which has led to an increase in accidental deaths compared to Mumbai, he said.
He said that along with water and air pollution, noise pollution should also be taken into consideration. "We aim to bring the number of accidents in the country to 50 per cent by 2025. We want to set an example in terms of road quality and safety standards," he said. The National Roads and Highways Department is setting new world records in road construction every day. The airstrip will be used to provide airspace for defense forces as well as ambulances for any medical emergencies .Expert in the field of engineering was present on the occasion.
