'Mahabhasht Mahayuti has submerged Mumbai...', Congress-Thackeray group criticizes government

Mumbai, May 26, 2025: Mumbai has once again gone under water during the monsoon due to alleged corruption in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and lack of infrastructure. On this, the Congress and the Thackeray group have strongly criticized the Mahayuti government. Both parties have questioned the government's management and accused it of ignoring the problems of Mumbaikars.
A large amount of water has accumulated due to the delay in cleaning drains and road works. After Mumbai was flooded in the first rain, the opposition has now targeted the Mahayuti government heavily.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in a press conference, "The Mahayuti government has destroyed Mumbai due to corruption and incompetence. Without making any preparations before the monsoon, it has pushed Mumbaikars into trouble." Thackeray group leader Aditya Thackeray also supported this and tweeted, "Mumbaikars are suffering due to malpractices in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and corruption in sewerage schemes."
The grand alliance government, however, has denied these allegations. A government spokesperson said, "We are committed to the development of Mumbai. All measures were taken before the monsoon, but the heavy rains created some difficulties." However, opposition parties have called the government's claim 'hollow' and demanded immediate relief for Mumbaikars.
