Heavy rains disrupt normal life, CM makes important announcement

Mumbai, May 26, 2025: Heavy rains have lashed the state for the last two days. Heavy rains have caused flooding in many parts of Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Konkan. Road, rail and air traffic have been disrupted, and citizens have been suffering due to water logging in many places. To deal with this crisis, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave major information in a press conference today.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the state government has announced an immediate relief package of Rs 500 crore for the flood-affected areas. "We are closely monitoring the situation. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in the affected areas. The work of shifting citizens to safer places is going on on a war footing," he said.
Many low-lying areas in Mumbai have been submerged, and the municipality has declared a holiday for schools and colleges. The risk of landslides has increased in Konkan, and the local administration has appealed to residents to be alert. In view of the intensity of the rain, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the next 48 hours.
The Chief Minister has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the administration without panicking. Also, helpline numbers 1077 and 112 have been announced for contact in case of emergency. He also clarified that the government is committed to providing food, water and shelter to the citizens of the flood-affected areas.
Special teams have been formed to assess the damage caused by the rain. Fadnavis expressed confidence that the situation will be under control in the coming days.
