24 crore for beautification of sakardara Lake.
Nagpur 17th - The Bhokle-era Sakkardara Lake in South Nagpur is the glory of Nagpur. Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari instructed to beautify and develop the lake by protecting this archeological site.
Lake Sakkarada is a historical place. Government of Maharashtra provided Rs. 24 crore. It will be developed from this fund. However, the mayor had received a complaint that the historic construction of the lake was not being protected during the beautification work. In connection with this complaint, the mayor gave clear instructions that old type of stone should be used in the construction of stairs. He also directed that the temple near the lake should also be developed as per the heritage items.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation has received permission from the Government of Maharashtra to spend Rs. 24 crore for beautification and development of Sakkarada Lake. Under this, a proposal of Rs 10 crore has been prepared and work orders of Rs 8.35 crore have been issued. 3.50 crore has been completed so far. Officials said that no funds have been received from the government for this work. In this regard, the mayor directed the administration to hold a meeting at the government level.
The total area of ??Sakkarada Lake is 7.80 hectares and the lake is 3.68 hectares. The municipality is proposing to develop a playground for children, an amphitheater, a food court, a park and a park on the other side of the lake. Jakhapur Jagdamba Construction Company is developing the lake. Ramesh Hotwani from this company was present at the meeting.
