Accelerate kharif crop disbursement - Dr. Nitin Raut
Nagpur dt. 15: - The percentage of kharif crop loan allocation is low. Banks should expedite loan disbursement Presented by Nitin Raut here today.
He was speaking at a kharif crop loan allocation review meeting held at Chhatrapati Sabha. District Deputy Registrar Ajay Kadu, Leading Bank Manager Pankaj Deshmukh, representatives of private and nationalized banks were present on the occasion.
The month of June has dawned and the kharif work has begun. The Guardian Minister expressed displeasure over the slow pace of loan disbursement. He said that while fighting Kovid, he would not ignore the needs of agriculture and farmers.
While the target for loan disbursement is 1 lakh 8 thousand farmers in the district, only 15002 members have disbursed 16 lakh 943 lakh loans so far. This proportion is 16 percent. He expressed dissatisfaction that this was low.
Meetings should be organized at village level to expedite the disbursement of loans. Camps should be organized at district as well as taluka level and at bank level. Raut said that eligible account holders should be made members and immediate action should be taken to disburse loans to such members.
The percentage of back wise loan disbursement was taken at this time. He directed the Collector to review the allocation of crop loan from time to time. Many farmers have become debt free through Shivaji Maharaj Debt Waiver Scheme and Mahatma Jotiba Phule Debt Relief Scheme. He also directed the department of co-operation to publish a toll free number to solve the problem
The government is making all out efforts to free the farmers from the debt trap and to distribute peak loans to the farmers at the bank level. Timely peak loans are a lifeline for farmers. Last year too, Nagpur district had a good performance in allocating kharif peak loans. This year, the coronation was restricted to holding fairs due to restrictive conditions, but now that the restrictions have been relaxed, banks should follow the Kovid triad and approach farmers at the regional level.
