Allocation of Biodiversity Fund in three months - Praveen Srivastava

57.23 lakh from 43 companies and Rs. 62.09 lakh from National Biodiversity Authority. The funds will be distributed to the BMC-Biodiversity Management Committees in three months, said Praveen Srivastava, Member Secretary, State Biodiversity Board.
Praveen Srivastava said that biodiversity is not limited to the forest department. Biodiversity is all about nature. This is where most of the companies do their business using biological resources. They have to pay some dividends to the board under the Biodiversity Act. This includes paying 3 per cent to the trader and 5 per cent to the manufacturer or 0.1 per cent on the sale price, excluding the total annual government tax on products made using biological resources, less than Rs 1 crore, 1 crore to 3 crore 0.2 and 0.5 per cent above Rs 3 crore. Equitable dividends are mandatory for companies. So far, only 43 companies have paid dividends. Companies that do not pay dividends are being sought.
If the biological resource producers and sellers provide information on their own, it will be possible to reach out to them as an aid. In the future, those who take advantage of biological resources will be prosecuted if they hide information. There is a provision in the law for timely imprisonment. That is what Srivastava said. Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board took 28 thousand 649 entries. Srivastava said work was underway to improve the register.
