Assembly Elections in Maharashtra: Voting on November 20

Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: The schedule of Maharashtra Assembly Elections has finally been announced. The Central Election Commission has made a big announcement in this regard and voting will be held on November 20. The results of the elections will be announced on November 23. After this announcement, the code of conduct has been implemented in the state.
The term of the Maharashtra Assembly will end on November 26, while the term of the Jharkhand Assembly is up to January 4, 2025. Diwali festival is from 29th October to 3rd November, so elections will be held on 20th November. This year, the election will be held in Maharashtra in a single phase.
**Party Strength in 2019 Assembly Elections**
Of the 288 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the BJP emerged as the single largest party in 2019, winning 105 seats. Shiv Sena had won 56 seats, NCP 54 and Congress 44. In those elections there were BJP-Shiv Sena and Congress-NCP alliances, but now the political situation has changed.
**Present Political Picture in Maharashtra**
After the 2019 elections, Uddhav Thackeray formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi with the Congress-Nationalist Party and became the Chief Minister. However, in 2022, Eknath Shinde's rebellion brought down the Mahavikas Aghadi government and Shinde formed power with the BJP. Ajit Pawar also rebelled from the NCP and joined the Grand Alliance, which brought about major changes in the political situation in the state.

The term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will end on November 26, and after Diwali, voting for the assembly elections will be held on November 20.
