Former Chief Minister's car crushes activist

Sattenapalli: A shocking incident has come to light in which an activist was crushed to death by a car in the convoy of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The video of this unfortunate accident that took place near Yetukuru on Wednesday is now going viral on social media. After the death due to being crushed in the crowd of the rally, people are now expressing anger and demanding a formal inquiry into the matter.


Singaya, a resident of Vengalayapalem village and a supporter of YSRCP, had gathered on the roadside to welcome the former Chief Minister during Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Rentapalli village in Sattenapalli mandal. Jaganmohan Reddy was going to unveil a statue here. While the convoy of cars was passing by, Singaya tried to shower flowers on the former Chief Minister, but the car in which Reddy was travelling hit him.


In the video footage that is going viral, you can see that the vehicle keeps moving forward without stopping as Singhaiya falls near the vehicle and the wheels of the vehicle go over his neck. Eyewitnesses rushed to his aid and informed the police. Singhaiya was taken to the Guntur government hospital, where he died during treatment.


Police officials including Guntur SP Satish Kumar and Guntur Range IG Sarsat Tripathi confirmed the incident and the video went viral. "It is unfortunate that the victim died in this way. Initial investigation has revealed that there were around 30 to 35 vehicles in the convoy, while only three vehicles were officially allowed," IG Tripathi was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle. "Action will be taken after a thorough investigation into how the unauthorised vehicles joined the convoy," the official said.
