Detailed information about this is that Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik took direct action against bike taxi services that were illegally transporting passengers through the app without the permission of the state government. Although it was clear that only electric bikes would be allowed according to the new e-bike policy announced by the government, it was observed that some bike taxi services were blatantly breaking the rules.
To ensure this, Pratap Sarnaik himself booked a Rapido bike in the Mantralaya area under an unknown name and caught this illegal service red-handed. Government officials had said that “no unauthorized bike service exists”. However, the actual situation turned out to be different.
