Ajit Pawar's big announcement that admission will be given only on the basis of merit in Barti, Sarathi, Mahajyoti

Maharashtra Assembly Monsoon Session 2025: From now on, students will be admitted to various courses in Barti, Sarathi, Mahajyoti, Arti institutions on the basis of merit and a common policy will be implemented regarding the number of students in these institutions, general scholarships, foreign scholarships, and admission process, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar informed the Legislative Council.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance and Planning Minister Ajit Pawar was speaking while responding to a question raised by Legislative Council MLA Sanjay Khodke and MLA Abhijit Vanjari regarding the distribution of house rent allowance and contingency fund from 'Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research Training and Human Development Institute' (Sarathi). During the period 2018 to 25, 3 lakh students in 83 courses were given scholarships, scholarships, etc. by the government. Out of these, 3 thousand, i.e. only 1 percent of the students, took admission for PhD courses.
A fund of Rs 280 crore was distributed for those 1 percent of the students. In 5 years, Rs 30 lakh was spent on a student, this matter is worth taking seriously. In the future, students will be admitted to courses based on which they will get employment, Ajit Pawar also clarified.
Meanwhile, a committee was appointed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to determine the number of students, admission process, number of scholarships and quality improvement in institutions like Barti, Sarathi, Mahajyoti, Arti. The report of this committee has now been received. A decision in this regard will be taken soon, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also clarified.
