Heartbreak Exposes MPSC Paper Leak Scam; 6 Arrested, Including 3 Commission Officials and an 'Ideal Teacher'
Mumbai: A romantic breakup has led to the exposure of a paper leak racket involving the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) screening examination for the post of Drug Inspector (Group B). The Crime Branch has arrested a total of six individuals, including three MPSC officials. The arrested group includes the director of an academy in Nandurbar, a school headmaster (a recipient of the 'Ideal Teacher' award), and an employee of a pharmaceutical company. Investigations are underway to determine how many people received the leaked paper and the total monetary value of the fraud.
Prior to the screening examination held on March 22, 2024, for the post of Drug Inspector under the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), questions were illegally obtained from the set prepared by experts to create a separate question paper. The investigation revealed that this unauthorized question paper was made available to certain individuals. The Crime Branch registered a case on August 25 and initiated an investigation under the guidance of Joint Commissioner of Police Anil Kumbhare.

MPSC Assistant Section Officer Vishweshwar Dattatray Nakate (35), Under Secretary Abhijit Ganpatrao Lendve (38), Assistant Section Officer Gopal Bhattu Marathe (37), Director of Nandurbar’s Kautilya Academy Pravin Dilip Patil (40), Headmaster Amrut Namdev Patil (55), and Lokesh alias Gaurav Rajendra Patil (24), a business executive at a pharmaceutical company in Malegaon. These six accused were arrested on August 26, and the court has remanded them to police custody until September 2.
'Ideal Teacher' Also Involved in Racket
Amrut Patil, a school headmaster from Nandurbar, is a recipient of the State Government's 'Ideal Teacher' award. Pravin Patil sent the paper to him, and he, in turn, passed it on to Gaurav. Gaurav's girlfriend, Rutuja, is Amrut's daughter. It is suspected that a transaction worth approximately ?12 lakh took place for the girl.

MPSC Coordination Officer Vishweshwar Nakate made a photocopy of the question paper and handed it to Lendve in the parking area of ??the Commission's office building. Lendve forwarded it to Marathe from Nandurbar. Marathe then gave it to Pravin, the director of Kautilya Academy. The chain extended to Amrut Patil, who sent the question paper to Gaurav. Preliminary investigations revealed that ?4 lakh was accepted in this specific instance. The police suspect that the paper reached several other individuals as well.

Angered by the breakup and resentful at the prospect of her becoming an officer, Gaurav emailed the MPSC to report the paper leak. Later, fearing arrest, he sent another email on July 26 withdrawing the complaint, claiming he had made a false report as a prank because a friend had failed the exam.
