Hindus unsafe in Bengal; BJP launches scathing attack on Mamata government

Kolkata, December 27, 2025: BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has leveled a serious accusation against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, alleging that Hindus are not safe in West Bengal, similar to the atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh. Stating that Mamata Banerjee has remained completely silent on the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh since the partition, Ghosh said, "Not only in Bangladesh, but Hindus are not safe in Bengal either. The government is not taking any action."
The BJP leader further said that there is a possibility of a large-scale removal of voter names from the electoral rolls in West Bengal through the Simultaneous Registration of Electors Photos (SIR) process. Hearings are underway regarding this, and there is a fear that the names of millions of voters will be canceled. Ghosh also condemned the incident of a West Bengal laborer being killed in Odisha on suspicion of being a Bangladeshi infiltrator and demanded a thorough investigation.
The BJP's Bengal unit posted on X (formerly Twitter) criticizing Mamata Banerjee's "anti-Bengali regime." It alleged that leaders like Firhad Hakim, Siddiqullah Chowdhury (President of Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind), and Humayun Kabir (associated with the Babri Masjid construction) are being promoted by the TMC. The BJP claimed that these leaders are involved in a conspiracy to destroy the Bengali language and culture.
In addition, BJP Minority Morcha National President Jamal Siddiqui also attacked Mamata Banerjee over the lynching of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh. "Bengal under Mamata Banerjee is going the way of Bangladesh. This is a desperate attempt to gain political advantage," he said. Speaking about the Unnao rape case in Uttar Pradesh, Ghosh said that the rule of law prevails in Uttar Pradesh and the government will take appropriate action.
