Manipur is still burning even after a year!

-Violence started on May 3, 59 thousand people are still living in various relief camps.
-227 people from both sections died in the violence, 70 thousand were displaced.
Imphal. The flames of caste violence that started on May 3 last year following the Manipur High Court's recommendation to consider granting Scheduled Tribe status to the majority Meitei community in Imphal Valley, are still burning. The violence that started from the capital Imphal spread like wildfire across the state within a few hours.
According to government figures, 227 people from both sections died in this violence and about 70 thousand people were displaced. Of these, about 59 thousand people along with their families or remnants of their families have been living in relief camps built at various places in the state for the last one year. Some of these people have taken shelter in neighboring Mizoram. The wounds of the people affected by this violence have now become ulcerated. So far, 16 police and security forces personnel have been killed in the ongoing violence in Manipur.
No attempt to heal wounds
In the last one year, the central or state government has not made any effort to heal these wounds. Due to this, even after a year of violence, the picture of the state remains the same. However, there has been no major incident of violence in the state for the last eight months. But the violence is not showing signs of stopping. The gap of distrust between the Meitei and Kuki-Jo sections has become so deep that it seems very difficult to bridge.
In the same environment, incidents of violence also took place during the elections for both the Lok Sabha seats of the state. But this state has faced violence on such a large scale that now the murder of two-four people has started being considered a minor incident.
Now the situation is such that the line of division between the two major tribes of the state i.e. Meitei and Kuki is very clearly visible. No person from the Kuki community is visible in Imphal Valley, the stronghold of the Meitei people. Same situation prevails in Kuki dominated hilly areas also. No person from Meitei community is visible there. People who have been living in mutual brotherhood in each other's areas for centuries have now either been killed or have migrated with their families. People of these two sections can no longer even imagine stepping into each other's area. They know that doing so means embracing death.
no one group is guilty
No one section is responsible for this violence. People from both sections have indulged in violence and arson. The BJP government of the state can definitely be blamed for the outbreak of this violence and its continuation for so long. The central government has also maintained silence instead of intervening in this matter. The result was that this very beautiful mountainous state rich in natural resources has now turned into a battlefield.
Presence of army and central forces
The central government sent central forces on a large scale to the state to restore peace in the area. But the presence of the army and central forces also failed to stop the violence. Women also took part in this violence. Due to the collapse of law and order situation, many extremist groups also became active and the period of violence that started after that has not been curbed till now.
Thousands of students left their pens and took up arms.
This violence has also made the future of thousands of students of the state uncertain. Due to prolonged internet shutdown due to violence, thousands of students and people who are studying or working in other cities of the country had to face a lot of problems. Many students jumped into the fight to save their community and left their pens and took up arms.
5 thousand weapons looted
Since the beginning of the violence, various groups looted weapons from government armories and police stations on a large scale. According to government figures, more than five thousand such weapons were looted. But despite repeated appeals by the government, so far only 1800 weapons have been returned.
