New chapter of the farmers' revolution: 'Move Fadnavis' bed to Nagpur, otherwise we will burn the roads!'

Nagpur, October 29, 2025 (Special Correspondent): A wave of discontent has erupted in the farmer community in Maharashtra. Thousands of farmers took out a big march in Nagpur city against the policies of the Mahayuti government. Although this movement was led by Bachu Kadu, former minister Mahadev Jankar and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana leader Raju Shetty also participated in this march. These leaders directly attacked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. "You started it, we will finish it! Put us in jail, but we will not back down," the farmers warned the government with a bang. This march has heated up the political atmosphere in the state, and the farmer leaders clearly said that there will be no peace without a change of government.
The march began in the morning. Farmers gathered from different parts of Nagpur and reached the main square of the city. They had a group of slogan-bearers, who were chanting slogans like 'Remove Fadnavis, establish farmers' rule'. Women also participated in this march led by Bachchu Kadu in large numbers. The farmers held pots of tomatoes, onions and other crops in their hands and protested against the government's agricultural policies. The main reasons for this movement were the inadequate guaranteed prices received by the farmers, non-implementation of loan waiver and water shortage in drought-hit areas. The leaders said that the problems of the farmers have increased since the Mahayuti government came to power and now they have had enough.
Speaking on the platform of the march, former minister Mahadev Jankar made the most aggressive speech. He said, "Devendra Fadnavis, you have started against the farmers. Now we will finish it! Farmers from every district of Maharashtra will take to the streets. We are fighting democratically, but doesn't the government see this? The people are the real court. This movement will not stop until the leaders say so. Not a single jail will be left empty. Tell your police to arrest us, we are ready. But remember, Devendra Fadnavis, we will not remain silent until your bed is brought to Nagpur!" Jankar's words created a wave of enthusiasm among the farmers present. He further said that until the demands of the farmers are met, the protests across the state will intensify and it will be difficult for the Mahayuti government to remain in power.
Speaking after this, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana leader Raju Shetty criticized the government over the court order. He said, "The police have brought a court order to clear the road by six o'clock. Is this order from the British era? While giving the order, reference has been taken from an English newspaper. On one hand, the government says that it is ready for discussion, on the other hand, the court order comes. This is Shikhandi's plan! The one who has created this game will not even have shorts left on his waist. We respect the constitution, but the judiciary should also act responsibly. Has the judiciary gone astray? In the future, all questions will be asked to the government. We are ready to surrender with both hands raised. Take us to jail, but we will not take back our rights." Shetty further challenged that the agitation is not over, it will continue. We will not leave the ground, we will not turn our backs. The court should also be aware while giving its decision.
Bachchu Kadu also warned the government, "The movement is not over, it will continue. Farmers commit suicide every day, no one talks about it. We will surrender with the same force with which the police come. The police should arrest us. Even today, we respect the judiciary, but if this situation continues, we will have to stage a movement in front of the court." Kadu appealed to the farmers to fight unitedly and said that this movement will not be limited to Nagpur alone, but will spread throughout Maharashtra.
This march disrupted the traffic system in Nagpur city. The police had deployed a large number of security forces. There were minor scuffles between the farmers and the police at some places, but the march passed peacefully. According to political analysts, this movement is a big challenge for the Mahayuti government. Since the farmer leaders have come together and attacked the Fadnavis government, the opposition parties are also likely to support this movement. Bachchu Kadu has already said that there are plans to hold a march in Mumbai in the next phase.
This aggressive stance of the farmer leaders has brought a new turn in the politics of the state. It will be interesting to see whether the Fadnavis government will now turn seriously to the demands of the farmers. However, the farmers have decided that they will not back down for their rights. "Fill the jails, but do not waste the blood of the farmers," is the message that has reached the Mahayuti government from this march.
