Nagpur 26- Former founders Dr. Vibhavari Dani and Dr. Ravi Wankhede appealed here today that organ donation is a great sacrifice and everyone should take the initiative to spread awareness about organ donation.
Dr. Ravi Wankhede delivered the first lecture on Organ Donation: Mahadan by the Awareness Committee of Jyeshta Nagar Pratishthan. On this occasion, the Executive President of the Foundation, former Kha Datta Meghe, was present in the chair, the Vice President of the Foundation, Prof. Anil Sole, former MLA Ashok Mankar, Dr. Raju Mitra, Suresh Kardale, Kamlesh Rathi etc. were present.
        Organ Donation: Dr. Ravi Wankhede, speaking on the topic of Mahadan, convinced the audience about the importance of organ donation, how useful a part of one's body can be for a needy patient. As soon as he said that he had donated and given life to him, the audience applauded him. Death comes to everyone, one eye can give sight to eight needy patients, everyone should take initiative for organ donation and encourage people, he appealed. In his lecture, Dr. Ravi Wankhede appealed to the relatives of brain dead patients to take initiative for organ donation.
        Speaking on the topic of Nagpur's role in organ donation, Dr. Vibhavari Dani said that organ donation is a great sacrifice, organ donation has been started since Purana times, when we start any work, we do not proceed without worshiping Lord Ganesha, we can say that Ganesha got a new life only through organ donation. . He reminded that this organ was donated during that time. Dr. Dani also explained how the organs of a brain dead patient can benefit other needy patients. He said that there is a need to establish organ donation centers in the country as well as in the big cities of the state, there is a need to create public awareness about organ donation, till date 185 kidneys, 25 livers, 1 liver have been transplanted in Nagpur. Initiatives are needed to help hundreds of patients in the city who are in need of kidneys. Dr. Dani said that in case of natural death, his organs are not of much use, but if it is known in time, the eyes of the deceased can be useful to the needy patient. Now that skin donation has started, he urged the society to take initiative for organ donation.
        Pratishthan's Executive President Datta Meghe in his closing speech exclaimed that everyone present including me understood the importance of organ donation today.
