Prevent tiger deaths - Dattatraya filling
Nagpur, dt. 29: Effective measures must be taken to prevent tiger deaths. Minister of State for Forests Dattatraya Bharne said that efforts should be made to prevent poaching of human-wildlife besides preventing poaching. He was speaking at a meeting at Ravi Bhavana in Nagpur, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur to review the action being taken to prevent the death of tigers in the forest. He also got information about the elephant herd that came to Gadchiroli district.
Special measures should be taken to prevent the death of tigers. Awareness should be spread among the citizens of forest areas inhabited by tigers and they should be instructed to take necessary precautions to prevent tiger attacks. The help of local people should be sought to curb the hunting of tigers as well as other wildlife. In the last few days, 42 people have been arrested in seven cases of wildlife poaching and organ trafficking. He further added that he would continue to focus on such activities.
Farmers in Dhanora taluka of Gadchiroli district from Chhattisgarh should be immediately compensated for the crop damage caused by elephants. Local citizens should be advised to stay away from elephants. Care should be taken not to cause wildlife-human conflict. A report on the elephants' whereabouts should be submitted, Bharne said.
