Raj Thackeray’s scathing attack: “Today they are clearing forests; tomorrow they will drive you out of your homes”—reads out a list of 23 projects.

Karjat – After inspecting the site of large-scale tree felling in Karjat on Wednesday, MNS President Raj Thackeray addressed a public meeting and leveled serious allegations against the government. He warned that 23 energy projects are being brought into Maharashtra; while forests are currently being cleared in the Bhimashankar-Sahyadri region, the same fate could soon befall ordinary citizens. “There are 23 such projects coming to Maharashtra. Let me read out the list to you,” Raj Thackeray said, proceeding to present the list at the Karjat rally. He noted that only three of these projects belong to the Central government, while the remaining 20 are linked to private companies—including Adani Hydro, ReNew Hydro Power, Megha Engineering, ReNew Solar, Torrent, and Greenko. “The Torrent project was simply handed over without even issuing a tender. It’s as if they are saying, ‘Give us this much electricity, and we will give you the land’—clearing forests and destroying lives just to secure space,” Raj Thackeray alleged. He further stated that a total of 236 power projects are being introduced in Maharashtra—all intended for outsiders and data centers, which will require vast amounts of electricity and water. He also mentioned that 40 coal-based power plants are among those being planned. “For whom are you bringing these people in? And for what purpose? They are fragmenting your constituencies. The number of ‘others’ will keep growing, while your own numbers will continue to dwindle,” said Raj Thackeray, urging voters to remain vigilant. Addressing the youth, he remarked, “If you intend to sit back, passive and quiet, then I have no desire to lead you. You claim to be the Marathi people of Maharashtra—the followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj—yet you do not flare up, nor do you rise to protest! Today, they are clearing forests; tomorrow, they will come for your cities. Birds once had their nests in the trees—soon, you too might find yourselves asking, ‘Where has our home gone?’” Raj Thackeray called upon the electorate to consider these issues when the time for elections arrives, emphasizing that the youth must hold the government accountable.
