Limaye is an IAS officer. Belong to the 1988 batch. He is the Director, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali.

A researcher at the Aarey Milk Colony in Mumbai has discovered a new species of spider, Sunil Limaye. Named (Spider), it is only the second species of the genus Georgio in India.
There is also a lizard named after Limaye,
In 2018, a researcher named a nocturnal Pali named Limai de de Geko * (Pal).
The government has recently appointed him as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) in the highest post of the state, raising hopes that the tourism projects related to the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve will get underway soon.
Limaye has been instrumental in the establishment of the Sahyadri Tiger Project and has been instrumental in the establishment of the Tiger Project Management Plan, Tourism Plan and the establishment of the Sahyadri Tiger Conservation Foundation.
In order to increase tourism in Koynanagar, Bamnoli, Kandati valley and Chandoli area, he has done important works like construction of roads in remote areas, development of pastures for wildlife growth etc.
He was instrumental in setting up the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo in Nagpur, Gorewada, the largest zoo in India. It is also for wildlife lovers.
