Textile Weaver Prize Scheme Result Announced

- Vidarbha's 'Karawat Kati' and 'Khan Fabric' became the attraction in the state level competition
The award will be presented on August 8
Nagpur Dt. 30: The result of the state level "Textile Weavers Reward Scheme 2023-24" organized by Textile Commissionerate, Nagpur, Department of Cooperatives, Marketing and Textiles was announced today. The first three numbers were drawn from each variety in a total of five traditional areas. Saw blade and Khan fabric handloom varieties of Vidarbha have become a special attraction in the competition and the awards will be presented on August 8 handloom day.
 Organized with the aim of promoting the economic and social development of handloom and textile weavers, the competition attracted the attention of the examiners with the special handloom varieties of saw thorn and khan fabric. A total of 15 varieties were selected based on the criteria of embroidery, accuracy, attractiveness of fabric and color scheme.
Three weavers of Nagpur hit the bet
 The weavers of Nagpur excelled in the Khan fabric variety and bagged all the three numbers in this category. Krishnaji Dhakate's Coconut/Hap Diamond Design Khan Fabric bagged the first prize. Yashwant Barapatre's Choukda Thikri Design Khan Fabric bagged the second rank and Prabhakar Nipane's Stipe Thikri Design Khan Fabric bagged the third rank.
 In the sawing loom, Kosa saree sawn by Uddhav Nikhare from Mohadi in Bhandara district won first place, Tussar silk sawed brodder jala pallu saree by Gangadhar Gokhale of Andhalgaon in the same district won second place and cotton sawed saree by Ishika Paunikar of Nagpur won third place.
All three awards in Ghongdi category to women
 Women weavers from Tolanur of Solapur district bagged all the three ranks in blanket variety. In this, Siddhamma Kalmani, Revamma Sinnur and Vijayalakshmi Hulamani bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.
 In Paithani saree variety, brocade paithani saree created by Giram Taleb Kabir of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar won first place, peacock brocade saree by Deepak Mahulkar from Yewla came second and Yuvraj Pardeshi's dhoti (silk) Aasavali pallu saree bagged third place. Ebran Ahmed Qureshi from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar won the first place and Faisal Istiaq Qureshi from the same place won the second place in Himaru Shawl category.
32 entries from the state in the competition
 A total of 32 entries were received from Maharashtra for this competition. Out of them 12 paithni sarees, 2 himru shawls, 8 karwat kati, 7 blankets and 3 khan fabric entries were received. 6 entries were received from Yewla, 3 from Paithan, 5 from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, 4 from Andhalgaon, 5 from Nagpur, 3 from Dhule and 4 from Tolanur. While Umred and Mohadi received one entry each.
 Such is the nature of the award
 The competition was conducted for a total of five varieties of traditional areas and the best three varieties were selected for each of these varieties. 20 thousand rupees for the first place, 15 thousand rupees for the second place and 10 thousand rupees for the third place will be given in the form of prizes.

 Textile Commissioner Avishyant Panda (Chairman), textile manufacturing expert Ganesh Vandkar (Member Secretary) along with members Sarveshri Vinkar Seva Kendra Nagpur Deputy Director Sandeep Thumbrikar, District Information Officer Vinod Rapatwar, Maharashtra State Handloom Corporation Joint Managing Director Gangadhar Gajbhiye, Principal School of Fashion Technology Nagpur Kripa Savlani was included in the panel of examiners.
 Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari inspected the varieties participating in the competition and learned about them. He instructed the officials to set up traditional handloom and textile stalls for sale and exhibition in the legislative area in the upcoming winter session in Nagpur. He also directed to plan for setting up such stalls in the office area of ??Vidarbha tiger reserve and tourist places.
