Nagpur, Dec 25: Municipal Corporation is going to build Vandemataram Udyan on one lakh square feet of land in Empress Mill area. The park will be dedicated to war martyrs, medalists, ex-servicemen, widows of war veterans and their dependents. In this regard, Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari met Union Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and explained the concept of Vande Mataram Udyan.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh lauded. Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B. was present on this occasion.
In a statement to Union Minister Rajnath Singh, the mayor urged that a park be set up in the country's Amrit Mahotsavi year to inform the new generation about the army and the sacrifices made by them. This park will be an inspiration for the people of Nagpur. The mayor requested the Union Minister to provide the names of the medal winners of the Army, Navy and Air Force and their honors. He also requested to provide Indian Army tank T-72, two Air Force MiG-23 and MiG-27 fighter jets. He asked for a howitzer cannon for the park and two DPSLR 7.72 mm for the memorial to be set up for the martyrs. The park will also provide information on what young people need to do to enlist in the military, the mayor said.
