'After Kolhapur, Punyatahi High Court bench comes here', Supriya Sulenchi demands from Chief Minister
Pune:- The government has given formal approval for setting up a division bench of Mumbai High Court at Kolhapur. Welcoming the decision, MP Supriya Sule has said that there is a need for a High Court bench in an important city like Punya. He has written a letter to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister requesting this.
The distance between Gaavcha Vichar Kela and Mumbai in talukas like Indapur in Pune district is approximately 300 to 350 kilometers. Considering that it is necessary to have a division bench of the Punyat High Court like the one in Kolhapur, MP Supriya Sule has demanded the state government to establish a Punyat Bench.
Sule has made this demand in a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. It has been a demand of Pune Karachi for many years that a division bench of Punyaat High Court be established. Due to the recognition of Kolhapur Bench, the demand of Pune Bar Association has gained more momentum and all the lawyers of Pune Bar Association have once again put forward their demand. It is believed that by making the demand of MP Supriya Sule, it has acquired a different significance and the government will start taking positive views on it.
Stating that it is necessary to have a special bench, MP Sule welcomes the Kolhapur bench. At the same time, while explaining the need of the bench here, he has given a detailed explanation in his letter regarding the judicial process required for the population of Pune district along with the essential matters and the administrative headquarters and its ancillaries which are currently situated in Pune. At present, the distance from Nira Narsinghpur in Indapur taluka, the last Tokawar in Pune district, to Mumbai High Court is about 350 kilometers. While crossing this gap, ordinary citizens, lawyers, lawyers and witnesses have to face time-consuming, expensive and mentally painful experiences. The same situation is "Justice delayed is justice denied" or Tattwala is creating obstacles, this is what he stated in his letters.
The number of judicial cases is increasing significantly considering the population of Pune and currently the population of Pune district is more than 1 crore. Apart from this, Pune being the administrative headquarters of Pune department, all the government establishments are here, not only that, 82 District Judges, 82 Senior Level Judges, 95 Junior Level/Magistrate Officers, 8 Family Courts, besides special courts like Consumer Court, Green Tribunal, Cooperative Court, Worker's Court are functioning here. There are about 25 thousand active lawyers doing their legal profession in Pune district. All this experienced and skilled manpower can be a capable base for the bench, as claimed by MP Sule in his letter.
There are more than 60 law colleges in Pune and thousands of students are studying there. Pune is a major IT hub and industrial center of the state and has a huge number of commercial, industrial, workers and institutional establishments. Considering the court building, lawyers association, manpower, transportation and other facilities, Pune is the best option for the bench. Pune is a natural judicial center considering the principles of decentralization and door-to-door justice. Therefore, keeping all the above points in mind, setting up a division bench of the High Court in Pune is a just, practical and people-oriented matter. The demand should be seriously considered and the necessary process should be initiated to establish a division bench of Mumbai High Court in Pune, MP Supriya Sule has said in her letter.
