Second attack on Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada, Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility

Surrey, Canada - Famous Indian comedian and actor Kapil Sharma's 'Caps Cafe' in Surrey, British Columbia was once again shot at early Thursday morning. This is the second attack in the last one month. Goldie Dhillon, who is associated with Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has claimed responsibility for this attack through a social media post. In this post, he threatened Kapil Sharma and said that if he does not respond to contact anymore, further action will be taken in Mumbai soon.

Attack details

The attack took place at around 4:30 am on Thursday. Local residents said that they heard the sound of five to six gunshots. Surrey police have reached the spot and started an investigation. Bullet marks and broken glass were found on the windows of the cafe. Fortunately, no one was injured in this attack, but the cafe staff was present. Surrey Police said the attack could be linked to the first attack on July 10, 2025, which was claimed by Harjit Singh Laddi of the terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Reason behind the attack

According to media reports, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang may have carried out the attack after Kapil Sharma invited Bollywood star Salman Khan to inaugurate his Netflix show 'The Great Indian Kapil Show'. The Bishnoi gang has a dispute with Salman Khan over allegations of poaching a blackbuck during the shooting of the film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in 1998. The gang has tried to target people associated with Salman, which is believed to have led to the attack on Kapil Sharma's cafe. Goldie Dhillon said in her post, "We had called him, but he did not respond, so we had to take action."

Police investigation

Surrey Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are also investigating whether the attack could be linked to local gangs. The police are yet to verify the authenticity of Goldie Dhillon's social media post. In addition, Indian intelligence agencies have been alerted in the wake of the threat of further action in Mumbai. Kapil Sharma is now likely to get police protection in Mumbai.

Kapil Sharma's reaction

Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath had expressed their opposition to the violence through a post on Instagram after the first attack. They wrote, "When we opened Caps Cafe, our dream was to create a place that brings the community together and brings joy. We are shocked by the violence, but we will not give up." Kapil has not yet made any official statement on this second attack.

Community concerns

The attack has caused concern among the Indian community in Canada. The All India Cinema Workers' Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate intervention from the Indian government. Local leaders and police in Canada recently organized a community event at the cafe in a show of solidarity against the violence.

This attack could not only affect Kapil Sharma's business but also the cultural ties between India and Canada. All eyes are on further investigation and action in this case.
