Former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, Colonel Purohit, Ramesh Upadhyay, Sameer Kulkarni, Ajay Rahirkar, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Sudhakar Chaturvedi have all been acquitted in this case. Pragya Thakur broke down in tears after this verdict.
All the seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case were acquitted by the NIA special court. Former BJP MP Pragya Thakur was also an accused in this case. She has expressed her reaction after being acquitted. "I came because of my faith in the justice system. I was tortured for 13 days. My life was ruined. I was insulted for 17 years. I was made a terrorist in my own country."
BJP's reaction
Now the BJP has also reacted to this matter. The verdict of the Malegaon bomb blast cases will be important in many ways for the Congress's distorted politics. Most importantly, this verdict has foiled the Congress's conspiracy to label the Hindu community as terrorists, said BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhyay.
The then Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde first used the word Hindu terrorism and later Sharad Pawar uttered it at a party rally in Alibaug. Chidambaram took the same stand. He also said in this tweet that while the accused from the same community were being found in terrorist incidents continuously, there was a deliberate conspiracy to defame the Hindu community for the sake of vote politics.
