“Eknathrao will leave power again, I assure you” – Devendra Fadnavis’ confident claim
Mumbai, November 5, 2025:-Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has made a statement that has once again created a stir in Maharashtra politics. “If Eknath Shinde is given the post of Chief Minister again, he will return that post,” Fadnavis expressed his confidence. He made this statement at a special press conference organized at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Shiv Sena leader and minister Uday Samant, senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule and other dignitaries were present at this conference.
Why did he make this statement?
In 2022, Eknath Shinde had rebelled against the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray. After that, Shinde became the Chief Minister with the support of the BJP. However, after the Mahayuti did not achieve the expected success in the Lok Sabha elections and internal differences erupted on the eve of the assembly elections, Shinde resigned from the post of Chief Minister on his own and handed it over to Fadnavis. “At that time, Shinde Saheb resigned with a very big heart. I am sure of the same heart, so I am saying this,” Fadnavis said.
Where and when?
This statement was made at a press conference held at Hall No. 3 of the Sahyadri Guest House at 11.30 am today. This conference was organized specifically to plan the seat allocation and future strategy in the Mahayuti. Fadnavis, while praising Shinde's sacrifice, said, “Shinde Saheb will never let personal ambitions come in the way of the interest of Maharashtra. Therefore, even if the party high command gives him another chance, he will return it for the good of the state.”
Shinde group's reaction
After this statement, the MLAs and ministers of the Shinde group are excited. Speaking at a public meeting in Thane, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde replied with a smile, “Fadnavis Saheb knows my true feelings. I have never done politics for office. I am ready to step down at any time to serve Maharashtra.” Shinde further added, “The grand alliance will remain together and will win more than 225 seats and form the government again.”
Support from BJP leaders
While endorsing Fadnavis’ statement, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, “Devendra Fadnavis will remain our Chief Minister. Shinde Saheb is doing a very good job as Deputy Chief Minister. The coordination between the two leaders is making the grand alliance invincible.”
Opposition’s attack
However, Congress state president Nana Patole criticized this statement. “Is this a certificate given by Fadnavis to Shinde or a threat?” Asking this question, Patole said, "The people of Maharashtra are now tired of this drama. We, the Maha Vikas Aghadi, will fight together and bring the people to power."
