‘Positive Discussions Underway’ on Two Key Issues: Uniform Civil Code and ‘One Nation, One Election’ – PM Modi

New Delhi: During an event organized to mark the BJP’s 47th Foundation Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made significant statements regarding two of the party’s key agendas. While acknowledging that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and ‘One Nation, One Election’ remain two of the BJP’s unfulfilled key agendas, he clarified that serious discussions regarding them are currently underway and that positive developments are taking place.
Prime Minister Modi stated, “The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and ‘One Nation, One Election’—these two agendas of the BJP have not yet been fully realized. However, serious discussions regarding them are in progress, and positive developments are unfolding.”
During the same event, the Prime Minister also spoke about the legislation granting 33 percent reservation to women. Noting that the BJP was the first to raise this issue back in 1994, he affirmed that the Central Government remains committed to implementing this law by the 2029 general elections.
Emphasizing that the BJP operates on the principle of *Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam* (The World is One Family), the Prime Minister noted that India has successfully maintained good relations with all nations, even amidst the ongoing conflict in West Asia. He observed that while India previously maintained an equidistant stance from all nations, it is now moving forward by fostering excellent relations with every country individually.
Prime Minister Modi further characterized the BJP as the sole political force dedicated to working for the nation's interest and public welfare. He also lauded the party's resilient and fighting spirit, while making reference to the suppression faced by BJP workers during the Congress era.
