A Call for the Worship of Talent! Raj Thackeray Says
A Call for the Worship of Talent! Raj Thackeray Says: Not Outside Capital, But Good Minds Are Needed; Do Not Let Entertainment Distract People and Prevent Them from Asking Questions—Maharashtra Bears the Burden of ?11 Lakh Crore in Debt
Mumbai, March 20, 2026: During the Gudi Padwa rally held at Shivaji Park in Dadar, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray appealed to everyone to join a new platform—'Maharashtra Next'—aimed at restoring the state's past glory. He stated unequivocally that while images and personalities are currently being worshipped in Maharashtra, the true worship of talent and intellect is essential to reclaim that lost glory.
Raj Thackeray remarked, "To ensure a better life for Maharashtra's next generation, we do not need outside capital; rather, we need good minds. Dubai imported intellectual talent for its development; let us do the same." He launched the 'Maharashtra Next' website, a platform where citizens can submit new ideas and suggestions across 27 diverse sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, and transportation. These ideas will be analyzed by experts and subsequently conveyed to the government, with the MNS serving as a bridge between the people and the administration.
Criticizing the current state of affairs, he pointed out that while the Chief Minister speaks of a dream to achieve a three-trillion-dollar economy, the state currently bears a staggering debt burden of ?11 lakh crore. He noted that despite three rounds of farm loan waivers, Maharashtra continues to record the highest number of farmer suicides in the country. The situation has deteriorated to such an extent that even cooking gas is scarce and unavailable. He alleged that people are being deliberately distracted through entertainment—such as movies, the IPL, and Instagram—to prevent them from raising critical questions.
He emphasized that great historical figures should not be compartmentalized along caste lines. He asserted that everyone—from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to other eminent personalities—has made significant contributions to society. "We celebrate the birth anniversaries of these great figures, yet we fail to truly internalize and follow their ideals," he observed.
Addressing international affairs, he criticized India for withholding support to Iran following the controversy surrounding Supreme Leader Khamenei, warning that this stance could lead to serious repercussions in the future. Key Highlights:
Ideas gathered from the public via the 'Maharashtra Next' platform will be utilized for development.
The central message is: Worship talent, not idols.
Criticism directed at the state's debt burden, farmer suicides, and the use of entertainment as a means of distraction.
Everyone is urged to participate in shaping the future of Maharashtra.
This speech by Raj Thackeray has generated great enthusiasm among MNS cadres, and expectations are high that 'Maharashtra Next' will receive a positive response from the public.
