Charges against former Prime Minister Hasina for crimes against humanity

Bangladesh News: Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal formally indicted ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a case of crimes against humanity on Thursday.
According to media reports, the International Criminal Court (ICT) has ordered the prosecution of ousted Prime Minister Hasina, former Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and former Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Mamoon for crimes against humanity for their efforts to suppress student-led protests in July-August last year.
Mamoon has accepted his guilt and filed a petition to become a government witness in the case. According to the news, only Mamoon is in jail out of the three. The remaining two accused – Hasina and Khan – will be tried in absentia. Hasina had gone to India on August 5 after the ouster of the Awami League government last year.
