A divisional meeting was held in Nashik through the State Election Commission in the backdrop of the local body elections. In this, a review of the districts of Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nashik, Ahilyanagar was taken. It has been announced that these elections will be held after Diwali. The State Election Commission has also given information that VVPAT machines will not be used in the local body elections, the elections will be held in phases.
On Monday, the elections were approved with OBC reservation according to the new ward structure. The petitions challenging the new ward structure were rejected by the Supreme Court. Therefore, now the approval has been given to hold the upcoming elections according to the new ward structure with OBC reservation.
Some changes were made in the ward structure of important municipal corporations in the state, Nashik Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pune Municipal Corporation, Mumbai Municipal Corporation. However, some petitions challenging the new ward structure were submitted to the court, therefore, now the elections will be held in the state according to the new ward structure with OBC reservation.

Elections will be held in Mumbai according to the old ward structure. Accordingly, 227 one-member wards will be formed in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. While Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Pimpri Chinchwad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, all other municipalities will have four-member wards.
Mumbai already had 227 wards. After the Maha Vikas Aghadi government came to power, it was increased to 236 wards. After the Mahayuti government came to power again, it was increased to 227 wards. It was challenged in the Supreme Court. However, that petition was rejected. Therefore, there will now be 227 wards in Mumbai.

Orders have been issued regarding the formation of wards according to the four-member wards system for A, B and C class municipal corporations in the general election.
‘A’ class municipal corporations – Pune, Nagpur
‘B’ class municipal corporations – Thane, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad,
‘C’ class municipal corporations Navi Mumbai, Vasai-Virar, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Kalyan-Dombivli.
