IND vs ENG Live Score, 2nd Test Match Day 2: Shubman Gill hits first Test double century at Edgbaston

India vs England Live Score, 2nd Test Match Day 2: Shubman Gill scored his first Test 150-plus innings while Ravindra Jadeja scored a brilliant 89 to take India to 419/6 at lunch on the second day of the Edgbaston Test.
Making full use of the favourable batting conditions, Gill and Jadeja shared a brilliant 203-run partnership in 279 balls. England's pacers did not get much help from the pitch, allowing Gill (168* runs, 288 balls) and Jadeja (89 runs, 137 balls) to dominate the morning session.
India resumed the day at 310/5 and maintained control by adding 109 runs in just 25 overs to avoid a batting collapse similar to the one they suffered in the second innings at Leeds.
With no significant movement from the pitch, the English bowlers resorted to short-pitch bowling but the tactic proved mostly ineffective against the well-settled Indian duo. The only breakthrough came late in the session when Josh Tongue bowled a sharp bouncer which Jadeja failed to handle and Jamie Smith took the catch.
Batting under clear skies, Jadeja showed rhythm early on, punching off the back foot through covers and playing a cut shot off Ben Stokes. Gill started his boundary account with a shot through third man and then wowed fans with a superb cover drive against Chris Woakes.
Gill surprised everyone by playing an unexpected reverse sweep off Shoaib Bashir and later smashed a six behind square. Jadeja was not far behind, smashing a six over mid-on with dancing steps off Bashir.
After Jadeja's dismissal, Washington Sundar joined Gill, and England captain Stokes set a peculiar field — including leg slips and close-in catchers — as Josh Tongue tried to make the most of the extra bounce.
