Nagpur, Dec 18: In the next five years, the city of Nagpur will be free from pollution, a program should be prepared by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Out of this, 250 to 300 crores come to the Corporation's coffers. A small wastewater treatment plant was started at Narendra Nagar a few years ago through the Government of Japan. For the same project, now Manpa has decided to take initiative and start about 12 projects. The purified water from this project will be provided for the construction of parks and buildings. In the past, purified water was supplied from Pench. This will save the right to drinking water of Nagpurkars. The program is called 'Waste to Wealth'.
Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis said that 90 per cent of water pollution was due to sewage in the municipal limits and 10 per cent was due to industrial water.
In the introduction, Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari explained the role behind the small scale sewage treatment project. He said that this is the concept of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. A few years ago, such a project was started in Narendra Nagar through his initiative. He was the one who followed up from time to time to make it happen again. Under his guidance, we are now launching 12 projects based on the technology of the Japanese company Jokosau. He said that the three projects at East Nagpur, Dighori Ghat and Shankarnagar Udyan were being implemented within a month of Bhumi Pujan. The project is entirely solar powered and will only require electricity for pumping. The project will save four crore liters of water in a year. The same company that is responsible for water purification is also allowed to sell water. Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari informed that Japan is ready to carry out 100 such projects in Nagpur on PPP basis.
Red tanker will supply water
The small wastewater treatment and recycling project will supply water to the constructions through red tankers. There will be a special tanker of 4,000 liters for this purpose and the color of this tanker will be red. It will say 'Recycled Water'. A four-liter tanker will cost Rs 200 for water and Rs 300 for diesel and Rs 300 for transportation. No such red tanker after the event. Nitin Gadkari and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis flagged off. The entire project is being operated by RITE Water, in collaboration with Daiki Axis under the Ministry of Environment of the Government of Japan. Nagpur will be done through this company.
