Delhi: The police have intensified their action regarding the high-profile Satya Niketan building collapse incident in Delhi. Sudhanshu, the operator of the PG (Paying Guest) facility within the collapsed building, has been arrested and is undergoing rigorous interrogation; he is set to be produced in court soon. This incident has caused a major stir among those running illegal and unsafe PG accommodations in Delhi.
According to Delhi Police sources, a man named Mahesh had leased the building to two business partners, Shubham Tyagi and Sudhanshu, in August 2025. Together, they operated a PG facility named 'Hostel Days' in the building. Following the incident, the second partner, Shubham, is currently absconding, while the police have arrested Sudhanshu. The police have initiated a detailed inquiry with him regarding the responsibility for the PG's maintenance and details about the original owner.
Mahesh, one of the main accused in the case, completed his two-day police custody today. He has been taken to court from the South District police station. Along with Mahesh, the police have also taken a building contractor and a worker linked to the incident to court for the hearing.
The demolition of the dangerous, severely cracked building in Satya Niketan began today. All belongings inside the building had already been safely removed. As a safety precaution, five to six neighboring buildings have also been completely evacuated. Notably, bulldozers or heavy machinery are not being used to demolish this dilapidated structure; instead, workers are safely dismantling it using hammers and other simple tools.
A full team from the municipal corporation has arrived at the site, and a significant police force has been deployed to ensure safety.
