India-Vietnam Economic Partnership Strengthened; Maharashtra Ready for Investment
Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis affirmed that Maharashtra is fully committed to further strengthening the ties between India and Vietnam. The Chief Minister made this assertion during the 'India-Vietnam Business Forum,' organized during the one-day visit to Mumbai by the President of Vietnam, H.E. Mr. To Lam.
Chief Minister Fadnavis extended an invitation to Vietnamese entrepreneurs to invest in Maharashtra. He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in sectors such as Buddhist heritage tourism, industry, smart cities, pharmaceuticals, energy, information technology, and others. On this occasion, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed between industries from various sectors in both countries.

Chief Minister Fadnavis welcomed the 'Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' established under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President To Lam.
Highlighting Maharashtra's rich Buddhist heritage (specifically Nagpur and Ajanta-Ellora), he welcomed Vietnamese investors. He proposed the development of a dedicated Buddhist tourism circuit, including the launch of direct flight services between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Ho Chi Minh City.
Noting the similarities between Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City, he welcomed the agreements recently concluded between the two cities.
He highlighted that the US$ 6.5 billion investment by the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup in Maharashtra represents the largest investment deal in Southeast Asia.
He provided details regarding investment opportunities across various sectors in key locations such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, and Gadchiroli, while specifically noting the world-class capabilities within the pharmaceutical sector.
Vietnamese President To Lam also noted that bilateral trade between India and Vietnam has been consistently growing. He highlighted the immense opportunities available in the sectors of electric vehicles, infrastructure, technology, and energy. He further remarked that this forum holds special significance, given that Mumbai serves as India's premier financial hub. A proposal to organize the Maharashtra-Vietnam Business Summit annually, alternating between the two cities, was also put forward on this occasion.
It is believed that this visit will elevate India-Vietnam relations to new heights.
