Kejriwal again reiterated his desire for 'Nobel Prize', said- 'Despite obstacles, history of development was created in Delhi'

Mohali: Former Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal is once again in the news, and this time the reason is his reiterating his desire to get the Nobel Prize. At a book launch event in Mohali, Punjab, he said that he should get the Nobel Prize for the wonderful work done in governance and administration. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party were also present in this program. Kejriwal's statement has come at a time when discussions about the Nobel Prize are also intensifying at the international level. Especially the proposals of Pakistan and Israel regarding US President Donald Trump have further sharpened this debate.
Work was done even during LG's tenure
Kejriwal claims that he carried out many development works in Delhi despite the constant obstructions of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and the interference of the Central Government. He says that while on one hand, obstacles were created in every work of the Delhi government, on the other hand, he worked tirelessly in the interest of the public. Models like Mohalla Clinics proved to be revolutionary in the field of health care, which have also been appreciated by many international organizations. He told that the Municipal Corporation sent bulldozers to demolish five Mohalla Clinics, yet the Delhi government did not stop.
Kejriwal listed the works
Kejriwal reiterated a long list of his achievements from the stage in Mohali. He said that in the summer days in Delhi, when the mercury reached 50 degrees, even then the power supply was not disrupted. In the field of education, he described the rejuvenation of government schools and distribution of clean water as the major achievements of his government. He also alleged that the current Municipal Corporation and the Central Government are deliberately ruining Delhi. He claims that "We have given a new direction to Delhi without corruption, so I should get the Nobel for administrative work."
Does one really get the Nobel for governance and administration?
The Nobel Prize was started in 1901 according to the will of the famous scientist Alfred Nobel. Till date, this award is given in a total of six categories: physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace and economics. So far 976 individuals and 28 organizations have received this honor. Till date, no separate category has been created for administration or good governance. However, some peace prizes have definitely been given to such leaders who have worked for human rights, democracy and social change. But the way Kejriwal is calling himself worthy of Nobel in the field of governance, there is no example of it recorded in history so far.
Has talked about Nobel earlier too
This is not the first time that Arvind Kejriwal has expressed his hope for the Nobel Prize. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he had also said in similar words that if his government has done so much work in Delhi despite all the obstacles of the LG, then he deserves the Nobel. Whether he said this in a sarcastic tone or seriously, only he can understand better, but the public and the media did not take this statement lightly.
Let us tell you that Arvind Kejriwal's wish to get the Nobel Prize for governance and administration is definitely a big and unusual claim. There is no doubt that he has done many works of public interest in Delhi. But the global recognition and classification that is required for the Nobel Prize does not yet come under governance. Nevertheless, if a new category is created for this field in the future, and if his work is recognized by the global community, then it is possible that his wish may come true someday. At present, this statement has become a topic of new discussion in politics and media.
