Last Chance to Avail Electricity Subsidy; Powerloom Registration Deadline Extended by 3 Months

Kolhapur: The Government of Maharashtra has decided to extend the deadline for online registration by three months in order to ensure the continuation of electricity concessions for the state's powerloom industry. This extension, announced by the Ministry of Textiles, has brought significant relief to thousands of powerloom owners.
Under the Textile Policy 2023-28, the electricity concession granted to powerloom owners imposes an annual financial burden of approximately ?1,200 crore on the state government. On October 7 of last year, the government had mandated that online registration for this scheme be completed within a six-month period. However, powerloom owners faced difficulties due to the complexity of the application process. The Ichalkaranji Powerloom Association had actively pursued this matter with MLA Rahul Awade and the Minister of Textiles, Sanjay Sawant.
Second Extension Granted
Previously, the deadline had been extended until April 26. However, many powerloom owners were still unable to complete their applications by that time. Thanks to the persistent efforts of MLA Rahul Awade, the Ministry of Textiles announced an additional three-month extension on Wednesday. Chandrakant Patil, President of the Powerloom Association, has urged powerloom owners to complete their registration during this extended period, warning that failure to do so will result in the automatic discontinuation of the concession.
Why is Registration Necessary?
This registration process is being implemented to monitor powerloom usage and production types, as well as to prevent the misuse of electricity concessions. Given that Maharashtra accounts for half of the country's total powerlooms, this industry plays a vital role in the state's economy.
Important Notice:
Powerloom owners are urged to complete their online registration immediately. It is being stated that this is the final extension being granted. For further information, please contact the Department of Textiles or your local Powerloom Association.
