A wave of discontent has swept through passengers after several trains arriving via the Gondia route were detained for extended periods at Kalamna.
According to local passengers, trains such as the Howrah-Mumbai, Gandhidham-Khurda Road, and Ajmer-Puri Express were halted at Kalamna Station for over an hour on Tuesday evening. Passengers were left with no choice but to stand inside the coaches or on the platforms. For many, no food or beverage facilities were available. Senior citizens and passengers traveling with young children, in particular, had to endure significant hardship as a result.
The railway administration stated that track upgrades, signaling improvements, and platform expansion work are currently underway as part of the station redevelopment project. To facilitate this work, certain trains are being temporarily halted to allow passage for others. However, passengers have faced considerable distress due to a lack of timely information and the absence of alternative arrangements.
