Pune: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, had proposed the idea of separating Mumbai from Maharashtra and including it in Gujarat or making it a union territory. Fadnavis further said that during such a time, Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe's Shahiri songs did the work of inspiring the United Maharashtra movement.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that a film based on the life of Sahitya Ratna Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe will be released to bring the struggling life, his great work, and immortal literature to the world, and that funds will not be short for this, and assured that the state government will follow the path shown by Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe.
Chief Minister Fadnavis was speaking at the publication ceremony of Sahitya Ratna Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe's literary volumes 5, 6 and 7 organized by the Higher and Technical Education Department. The Chief Minister said that Anna Bhau Sathe created a revolution through his writing and gave a new direction to the society. Compassion, sensitivity, revolution and a universality can be seen in his literature. His literature has been translated into 22 languages of the world and is famous in many countries. Also, research is going on in various universities of the country on his literature. Seeing the study of his literature in Russia, he also said that it fills me with pride.
Anna Bhau Sathe wrote excellently in every field of literature such as stories, novels, folk drama, drama, film screenplays, lavani, povade, travelogues. In his 49-year life, he wrote more than 40 novels and various types of compositions. Today, thousands of people are doing PhDs on his literature. He was truly a walking and talking university, Fadnavis said.
Anna Bhau Sathe's personality grew through his struggling life. His writing gave direction to the society, gave strength to the common man and became the voice of the underprivileged. Work is underway to bring this work of his to the attention of the society. Rs 25 crore has been made available for his memorial and its designs have also been prepared. The Chief Minister also assured that this memorial will be completed soon.
